21 killed in road mishaps in Finland in July

A total of 21 persons were killed and 367 others injured in 295 separate road accidents in Finland in July this year, according to Statistics Finland.

The number of fatalities was four higher and the number of persons injured 63 higher than in July 2024.

Out of the deceased, 12 travelled by passenger car, five by motorcycle, one was pedestrian and one rider of light electric.

Two cyclists on a traditional bicycle were also killed.

Among the dead 13 were men and eight women.

Meanwhile, a total of 98 persons were killed and 1,667 others injured in 1,362 road traffic accidents in the January to July period.

The number of deaths was nine higher and the number of persons injured 102 lower than in the corresponding period of 2024.

Of the persons who were killed, 59 travelled by passenger car, three by van, 14 by motorcycle and one by lorry.

Eight pedestrians, two riders of a light electric vehicle and eight cyclists on a traditional bicycle were killed. In addition, three other road users were killed.
