24 Palestinians killed in Israeli attacks on Gaza

At least 24 Palestinians were killed by Israeli attacks across Gaza on Thursday, according to the Gaza Civil Defense, reported Xinhua.

In southern Gaza, nine people, including a child, were killed in an Israeli airstrike targeting tents housing displaced persons and gatherings in Khan Younis, Mahmoud Basal, spokesperson for the Civil Defense, told Xinhua.

In Gaza City, three people were killed in an Israeli airstrike on a residential apartment in the Sheikh Radwan neighborhood, north of the city, and three others were killed in an Israeli airstrike on an apartment in the Shati refugee camp, west of the city, Basal said.

In central Gaza, a family of four was killed in an Israeli airstrike on an apartment in the al-Salhi Tower west of the Nuseirat refugee camp, and five aid seekers were killed by Israeli army fire near the U.S.-backed aid center at the Netzarim junction, Basal said.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said in a statement that it continues operating in Khan Younis, "locating and dismantling tunnel shafts and underground terrorist infrastructure in the area."

"Over the past day, terrorists who posed a threat to IDF troops were eliminated from the ground and air," it said, adding that it continues to "locate and dismantle infrastructure above and below ground" in northern Gaza, striking "Hamas military structures" and killing "several terrorists."

Meanwhile, in response to a Fox News exclusive interview with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu published earlier in the day, where Netanyahu confirmed his plan for Israel to "take full control of the Gaza Strip," Hamas said the plan "is a continuation of the approach of genocide and displacement."

In a press statement, Hamas said it considers Netanyahu's statements to represent "a clear reversal of the course of negotiations and reveal the true motives behind his withdrawal from the final round, despite our closeness to reaching a final agreement."

At least 9,752 Palestinians have been killed and 40,004 others injured since Israel renewed its intensive strikes in Gaza on March 18, bringing the total death toll since October 2023 to 61,258, and injuries to 152,045, Gaza-based health authorities said Thursday.

Four new deaths due to starvation and malnutrition were recorded in the past 24 hours, bringing the overall death toll of that kind since October 2023 to 197, including 96 children, the authorities said.

Also on Thursday, the Hamas-run government media office said that only 92 aid and merchant trucks entered Gaza on Wednesday, most of which were subjected to looting and robbery amid "deliberate security chaos" created by Israel.
