Stubb discusses Ukraine with Trump, Zelenskyy over phone

President Alexander Stubb on Saturday held separate telephone conversations with US President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and discussed the situation in Ukraine, said Stubb in a post on his social media platform X.

“I have had calls with US President and Zelenskyy of Ukraine today (Saturday). The work to achieve a just and lasting peace in Ukraine has continued between the Ukrainian and European leaders and the national security advisors of Ukraine, Europe and the United States,” Stubb wrote in his post.

He also said that the NSA meeting convened by US Vice-President JD Vance and UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy was an important step forward.

“Europe stands united with Ukraine. We will continue to work closely with President Trump and the United States,” the Finnish President added.

“I had a good conversation with President of Finland Alexander Stubb. We are coordinating positions for the most productive joint work with America,” Zelenskyy wrote in a post on his social media platform X.

He said it is important that America has the determination and the ability to end the war, and welcomed Trump’s desire to stop the killings.

“To respond to Russia’s intention to prolong the war and seize territorial spoils, we must act wisely and in coordination. Ukraine and Finland have the longest borders with Russia in Europe, and our people know very well what threats this brings. We agreed to continue working together for our common security,” Zelenskyy added.
