Finnish govt´s actions demanded against Israeli killings in Gaza

People from different strata on Wednesday afternoon staged a demonstration in front of the Finnish parliament protesting against the Israeli genocide in Gaza.

Pointing out the inhuman actions being taken by Israel, the demonstrators also demanded immediate measures by Finnish government to end the brutal acts, said a press release.

Organised by Äitikapina, the Finnish unit of the international Mothers’ Rebellion, a sister organization of Extinction Rebellion (Elokapina in Finland), the participants in the demonstration also demanded smooth supply of food and medicine to Palestinian civilians.

Health for Palestine Finland and PALCIF (Palestinian community in Finland) also extended their cooperation to hold the demonstration, which was also supported by Sumud Helsinki.

"The demonstration was Äitikapina's response to Palestinian journalist Bisan Owda's ´Call to Action´ on Instagram, which calls on people to demonstrate so that water, food and medicine can be delivered to Palestinian civilians,” said Reetta Ojala of Äitikapina.

“Israel is deliberately starving civilians, and Äitikapina demands that the Finnish state take concrete actions to end Israel's brutal actions,” she added.

The protesters in the rally drew attention particularly to the children of Gaza.

Referring to UNICEF, they said that more than 50,000 children have been killed and injured in Gaza since October 2023.

The children of Gaza have been deprived of their right to a safe childhood and they have been exposed to atrocities throughout their lives and are permanently traumatized, they observed, adding that in every half an hour, one of them dies.

Earlier on July 24, Äitikapina held a similar demonstration at the same place.
